Man United to Assess Phil Jones’ Injury

Manchester United interim manager Ryan Giggs confirms that defender Phil Jones has “gone to hospital,” after suffering an injury blow in the first-half of the club’s final Premier League home game with Hull City.

Jones, who started at centre-back alongside Chris Smalling, collided with Maynor Figueroa, leaving the field with a suspected dislocated shoulder that may rule him out of the World Cup.

“He’s gone to hospital and we will just have to assess it,” explained Giggs. “But it does not look great.

“I’m just saying that the reaction, he asked to come off straight away, whether it’s precaution or not, from a player’s point of view, you know if it’s bad. Hopefully it’s not too bad.”

The injury presented Nemanja Vidic an opening to make his final appearance at Old Trafford earlier than expected.

England boss Roy Hodgson will be left sweating on the injury status of the defender.
