Manchester United have joined Arsenal,
Chelsea and Manchester City in the battle to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is keen to get more playing time away from the Parc des Princes.

The 19-year-old has been added to the Red Devils’ list of targets by newly-appointed Dutch coach Louis van Gaal, who is keen to bolster his midfield options with the addition of at least two high-quality players.

The 62-year-old has pulled the plug on deals to sign Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos and Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas – two of predecessor David Moyes’s transfer
targets – but is considering a move for Rabiot as well as 22-year-old Feyenoord star Jordy Clasie, who Robin van Persie has compared to Paul Scholes.

Rabiot, a France Under-21 international, made 25 league appearances for the oil-rich Ligue 1 champions this season, scoring two goals. However, the teenager currently finds himself behind Thiago Motta, Marco Verratti, Blaise Matuidi and January arrival Yohan Cabaye in the pecking order and is seriously considering his options.

With PSG expected to strengthen even more this summer – David Luiz, who can play in a holding midfield role, has agreed a deal to join the Parisians from Chelsea – Rabiot knows his chances of holding down a first-team place at the Parc des Princes will only decrease over time and is keen to leave while his stock is still relatively high, according to the
Daily Mail.

It was reported earlier this season that Chelsea were preparing a ÂŁ15m package to bring the player to Stamford Bridge, but the Blues now face stiff competition from United as well as both Arsenal and
City. Rabiot must decide whether he wants regular first-team football – which he would get at Old Trafford – or Champions League football, which the
other three Premier League clubs can all offer this season.{GMS}
