Cercle Brugge of Belgium forward Michael Uchebo believes Nigeria has what it takes to stun the football world at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
The former Enugu Rangers player, 24, who made his debut international appearance in March, in a goalless draw with the El-Tricollor of Mexico, opines teams could only “write off” the African champions at their own peril.
“As you all know it’s the World Cup and every team that has qualified harbours the dream of winning the tournament,” Uchebo, told Goal.com. “No one should write off Nigeria as we have the talents and quality to succeed at the international stage.
Nigeria tackles Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Argentina in Group F of the World Cup and hopes to surpass its best performance- being second round appearance in the 1994 and 1998 editions.
“My team-mates and I are not afraid of any country, either small or mighty, because with our wealth of experience as players and exposure of our technical crew we will surprise the world in Brazil. All we need is to play as a unit and take to the coaches’ instructions.”
