Pinto Will Quit Barca as Ter Stegen Arrives

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Ander Ter Stegen for an undisclosed fee.

The club also announced Jose Manuel Pinto’s contract- ending this summer- will not be renewed.

And with Victor Valdes already on his way out of the Nou Camp, the 22-year-old Germany international is set to be used as a first choice goal-tender in his first season with Barcelona.

Ter Stegen played all Monchengladbach’s 34 Bundesliga matches in the just concluded season as they finished sixth.

The Goalkeeper, who is not named in Germany World Cup squad for the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, made his international debut in May of 2012.

He is thought to have signed a five-year deal.

The deal is made possible following Uefa’s decision to place on hold pending appeal a 14-month transfer ban handed Barca, after breaching rules on signing players under the age of 18 from non-EU nations.

Pinto will now quit the club following six-and-a-half year of committed service to the Spanish club.

“The Board of Directors want to publicly thank the professionalism and dedication of José Manuel Pinto throughout his time at the Club,” read a Barca statement.

The outgoing goalkeeper won a total of 16 titles and made 73 appearances since arriving at the side in January 2008.
