Rodgers- Liverpool Will Fight Till the End

Liverpool hopes to pile pressure on Manchester City and seal Chelsea’s fate in the title run-in with a win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has charged his wards to ensure they finish off the remaining two matches with a victory, while insisting the season is far from over.

“All we can control is our remaining two matches,” Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo. “We need to win those and then see where it takes us.

“We can’t worry about anyone else, we just need to focus on our job. We will keep fighting right to the end.”

The Anfield club trails Man City in second place in the league table by goal difference, with both teams tied on 80 points. A win at Selhurst Park completely rules out Chelsea from the title race- after being pegged back to a goalless draw at Norwich on Sunday- and ensures a final match day photo finish between the ‘Kops’ and the Manchester Blues- 3-2 winners over Everton on Saturday.

Liverpool will as well bounce back to the top with a win over Tony Pulis’ Palace and ensure a second-place finish at the end of the outgoing campaign- their highest in five years.

“What these players have achieved so far this season is nothing short of remarkable,” Rodgers added.

“To arrive with two games to go with the possibility of achieving something people could only have dreamed of back in August really shows the scale of what we’ve done this year.

“It’s been a huge effort by everyone and I’m very proud. To think that we’re in May and we’ve only just suffered our first defeat of this calendar year is a brilliant achievement.

“We are trying to build something here that is sustainable over many years and so far it has gone well.

“There is still plenty to play for this season. We want to finish strong. We had been in great form prior to the Chelsea game and now we want to get three points at Palace and kick-off another winning run.”
