Scores Dead As Suspected Boko Haram Gunmen Attack Village Market In Borno

boko-haram-23Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram yesterday attacked a village market in Borno State, shooting sporadically on the marketers, the Hausa service of the British Broadcasting Service (BBC) reported.

Residents told the agency that the culprits stormed the Kayamla market near Maiduguri, the state capital, in broad daylight and began indiscriminate shooting on everyone in the market.

An eyewitness who sought anonymity said that the sect members invaded the market on Sunday afternoon (yesterday) shooting people. He did not disclose the amount of damage done by the Boko Haram sect.

“The sect members entered the market and began to shoot anyhow; they even shot our driver whose fate is not known — whether he will survive the gunshot — but Allah alone knows the best on his condition”, he said.

The state security operatives did not comment on the incident, damage done by the sect and number of casualties were not confirmed at the time of filing this report.
