Algeria Names Tottenham’s Bentaleb in World Cup Squad

Tottenham Hotspur’s 19-year-old Nabil Bentaleb is named in Algeria’s 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The French-born midfielder only earned his second cap in a 3-1 friendly win against Armenia.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adlene Guedioura has been left of coach Vahid Halilhodzic’s list.

On-loan Nottingham Forest striker Rafik Djebbour, goalkeeper Izzedine Doukha, defender Nacereddine Khoualed and striker Foued Kadir as well as midfielders Ryad Boudebouz and Amir Karaoui are among the seven players who will not be making the trip to the Southn American nation.

Sporting Lisbon’s Islam Slimani, who scored five goals in seven qualifiers, will be saddled with the responsibility of leading the attack.

Algeria will face Belgium, Russia and South Korea in Group H at the 12 June to 13 July tournament in Brazil.
