The second runner-up in Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State and candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, has congratulated the governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the election and his victory as a “true reflection of democracy”.

Mr. Bamidele said in a statement on Sunday morning that as a “mature politician”, he accepts the outcome of the result in “good faith”.

The LP candidate also thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their “unbiased stance” and for allowing the people of Ekiti to freely make their choice.

He singled out his supporters in his hometown, Iyin, for special thanks for sticking by him throughout his campaign and for voting for him over other political parties.

Mr. Bamidele garnered a total of 18, 135 votes to emerge a distant third behind the incumbent governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who polled, 120,433 votes and Mr, Fayose, who won with 203,090 votes.
