Costa Completes Chelsea Medical

Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa has passed a medical at Chelsea ahead of a proposed £32m switch to Stamford Bridge.

The club and the player, who scored 35 goals in 44 games for Atletico this season, have already agreed a deal in principle, but a hamstring injury held up the move from the La Liga champions.

The Brazil-born Spain international has now returned to training with the La Rojia Furia ahead of next week’s World Cup in his homeland.

On completion of the big-money transfer, Costa becomes Jose Mourinho’s first signing of the summer, paving a way for Fernando Torres and Demba Ba to follow Samuel Eto’O out of the Premier League club.

Chelsea have placed a £25m price-tag on Belgian hitman Romelu Lukaku, but that has seemed too outrageous for suitors, with reports speculating the Everton loanee could be farmed out on another loan spell next season.
