Kano Pillars extended their lead at the top of the Glo Premier League table by three points on Saturday, following a 3-1 win over Dolphins in a rescheduled Week 19 match.
The league leaders now have 34 points from 19 matches, three ahead of their closest rivals Nasarawa United after the first round of matches.
An early Adamu Hassan’s effort was ruled out for an offside by the referee, before Dolphins goalkeeper David Ocheje saved Promise James’ shot in the seventh minute.
Nigeria international striker Gambo Mohammed opened scoring for the reigning champions on 22 minutes, as Hassan turned provider with a tailored delivery.
Emem Eduok restored parity for the visitors in the 31st minute, but Rabiu Ali placed Pillars in the ascendancy from the penalty spot two minutes to the hour mark- his eighth goal of the season, after a handball in the Dolphins goal area.
