I Didn’t Admit Failure Of Power Sector Reform – Nebo

Nebo.jpgThe Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, has denied reports in a section of the media that he admitted failure of the power sector reform due to the huge number of Nigerians, who still do not have access to electricity.

The clarification, which was contained in a statement issued yesterday by the minister’s special assistant on media, Kande Daniel, stated that contrary to the report, Prof. Nebo was talking about the unacceptable power situation in the country which the reform is meant to correct.

“To have admitted that the current reform is a failure is akin to throwing in the towel at one of the fundamental pillars on which the reform agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan stands. This will not only be disastrous but will ultimately spell doom for the country and its aspiration of becoming one of the top 20 economies in the world by the year 2020”, the statement said.

Furthermore, the statement said that the correct position of things, which is being celebrated not only in Nigeria but the world over, is that the reform is a huge success.
