Majeed Waris Struggles for Fitness Ahead of Ghana-USA Match

Ghana striker Majeed Waris has emerged an injury doubt for the World Cup, after a scan revealed he has a torn quadricep.

The 22-year-old Spartak Moscow marksman sustained the injury in the fourth minute of the country’s 4-0 thrashing of South Korea in their final warm-up match.

The ‘Black Stars’s’ team doctor Adam Baba revealed Waris is improving and “can now bend his knee with little pain”.

Ghana, who are making their third appearance at the Fifa World Cup, have until the eve of June 15, to name a replacement for Waris, should they deem him unfit for the campaign.

The West Africans begin their appearance against the USA on June 16, before playing Germany and Portugal in Group G.
