Mexico Edge Cameroon By Peralta’s Lone Goal

Cameroon lost their opening game of the Fifa world Cup to Mexico by the slimmest of margin.

A second-half strike by Oribe Peralta earned a hard-fought win for the El-Tricolor, who had earlier had two goals dismissed by Combian referee Wilmar Roldan Perez.

The victory saw Mexico move up second behind hosts Brazil, who sealed a 3-1 win over Croatia in the opening Group A match on Thursday.

Oribe’s goal, his ninth from seven successive games, came from Charles Itandje’s rebound of Giovanni dos Santos’s shot from inside the box a minute after the hour mark.

Villareal striker Dos Santos had previously been denied in the 10th and 31st minute an opening goal by the referee.
