“Lausanne has always been one of my favourite meets and I’m thrilled to have it be my opening meet,” Gay said.

The athlete, who became the second man to win the 100m, 200m and 4x100m at the same World Championship (2007) after Maurice Green, was forced to relinquish the 4x100m relay silver medal he won at the London Olympics in 2012.

He will race in the 100m against American rival Justin Gatlin in Lausanne.
