A British woman upset about how sprinkles were put on her ice cream called the 999 emergency line for help, police say.
“He put bits on one side and not the other, so I’ve said to him, ‘Can you do it properly please?’ and he’s said, ‘No no’ … and I said, ‘Fine, can I have my money back? You can keep the ice cream,’ and he’s refusing to give me my money back.”
The operator tells the woman it’s not a police matter and suggest other organizations to contact.
West Midlands Police Chief Supt. Jim Andronov reminded people 999 – similar to 911 – is for emergencies only.
“Each call often takes minutes to deal with as staff have to clarify the situation – it might not sound like much but, if someone is trying to get through to report a genuine life or death emergency, then a minute is a very long time to wait,” he said.
