Abia State Commissioner Shot By Gunmen

Abia State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Ken Nwosu, is struggling for his life after he was shot on Wednesday night by some unknown gunmen.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State, Geoffrey Ogbonna the incident occurred around Umuajata/ Amakamma road by Stella Inter-Communication, at the outskirts of Umuahia capital city at about 8.05pm.

Nwosu was said to be driving home when he was attacked by a group of gunmen in a Toyota Camry, who opened fire on him on the lonely road. After shooting indiscriminately for some time, they fled the scene.

The bullet touched Nwosu’s intenstines, according to Punch report.

The PPRO explained that it looked like the gunmen had a hidden agenda as they did not steal the car, neither did they collect anything from the car but that investigation will unravel the mystery.

Doctors at the Abia State Specialist Hospital are now battling to save the Commissioner’s life as he was was badly injured as his intestines and femur.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Augustus Mbanaso said the Nwosu’s condition was serious at the point he was rushed to he hospital but he is now stable after surgery was carried out on him.

He added that the commissioner needs prayers as it is God that heals.

However, no arrest has been made by the police who are begging members of the public who have any useful information about the incident to come forward so as to help in the investigations.
