Spanish club Levante has told Atletico Madrid to improve their offer for Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
Navas has been pivotal to Costa Rica’s journey in Brazil, where they next face the Netherlands in Saturday’s quarter-final match. The goalkeeper has kept out 14 of 16 shots on target he has faced in the ongoing tournament.
“Six million euros plus forward Leo Baptistao is not 10m,” said the club’s president Quico Catalan.
“Keylor has a 10m euros (£7.95m) release clause- he’s worth more.”
La Liga champions Atletico are in a search for a long-term replacement for Thibault Courtois- the Belgium goalkeeper set for a return to his parent club Chelsea after serving the ‘Los Roji Blancos’ for three years on loan.
