Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have reached agreement over the transfer of left-back Filipe Luis.
Brazilian Luis is expected to arrive London to discuss personal terms and have a medical at the Stamford Bridge outfit.
The 28-year-old made 44 appearances for ‘Los Rojiblancos’ on their way to clinching the La Liga title for the first time in 18 years last season.
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Filipe Luis,” a statement on Chelsea website read.
The West Londoners lost ex-England international left-back Ashley Cole to Roma last week and Luis could become a direct replacement for the former Arsenal star.
He is the second player to leave the Estadio Vicente Calderon for Chelsea this summer following the signing of Spain striker Diego Costa in a £32m deal.
Atletico revealed Luis, who joined from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2010, told them he wanted to join the ‘Blues’ at the end of the last season.
He made 180 appearances for the Spanish champions and has 4 Brazil caps.
