FG Pleads With COEASU To End Strike

The Federal Government has urged the striking members of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) to shelve their six month old strike and return to the classrooms in the interest of the nation.

The Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike reiterated the government’s plea when he inaugurated the Technical Committee on the Dual Mode with Regards to Degree Awarding Status by Colleges of Education, in Abuja Monday.

He added that the inauguration of the committee which is expected to provide recommendations on how CoEs can award both National Certificate on Education (NCE) and Bachelor of Education Degree, should assure the union of the government’s commitment to resolve all issues that led to the strike.
