The Netherlands World Cup centre-back Stefan de Vrij has joined Italian club Lazio from feyenoord for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old featured in all seven matches by the ‘Oranjes’ at the 2014 World Cup, helping coach the Louis van Gaal’s side to a third-place finish.
De Vrij said:”Lazio really proved that they wanted me and I am very happy I have made this move. I hope to become a more complete defender in Italy.”
It was earlier expected he would reunite with his former manager at Manchester United, having being linked with a move to the Premier League giants.
The defender scored his side’s third goal in the 5-1 mauling of former champions Spain at the Arena Fonte Nova.
He made 32 league appearances for the Eredevise outfit last season and scored four goals.
