minister of environment, Mrs Laurencia Laraba MallamThe Minister of Environment, Mrs Laurentia Laraba Mallam, yesterday described the mass killing of women and children in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as barbaric and vicious.

The minister, who hails from the state, made the lamentation while distributing relief materials to the affected communities.

“When we were growing up, we did not witness such things. Today, we wake up and see villagers who are looking for daily bread peacefully slaughtered. Some people said they know those who carried out the attacks and they mentioned names. Government will look at all the issues and provide relief materials to alleviate the suffering of the people through the emergency agencies.

“There is need for more security in Southern Kaduna. The president is worried about the incessant attacks”, she said.

President of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Dr Ephrain Goje who also spoke, said there was a need for the people to be more vigilante and security conscious “Because no artillery can protect the people of Southern Kaduna”.

He added: “There is a looming danger. Over 150 houses have been burnt; NEMA and SEMA should come to their aid. The president and the vice president cancelled their meetings due to a bomb blast in Abuja, why can’t they visit Kaduna South where hundreds of people are being killed?”.
