Police Arrest 6 Teenagers For Looting Savannah Bank

A team of anti-robbery policemen attached to Area A Police Command, Lion Building Friday arrested six young men around 8: 30 am, while they were looting properties from Savannah bank, at Broad Street, in Lagos Island.

According to an eyewitness, the arrested armed robbers are all teenagers between the ages of 18 to 20. Some of the boys were identified by residents of the area, who said they had been tormenting residents of the area for a very long time.

They commended the Area Commander, Imohimi Edgal for the quick response of the policemen and the reduction of crime in the area.

The suspects were Ibrahim Luka, Kunle Malik, Sheriff Lawal, Tunde Basiru, Arif Sarumi, Lukman Ojikutu and Fidelis Joshua, reports Vanguard. They were arrested following a tip-off from residents.

Some of the suspects, who tried to escape by attacking the policemen with cutlasses were shot in the leg by the policemen who were led by one Sargent Mohammed Akeem.

Items recovered from the suspects include three cutlasses, one iron bar, one iron saw, and some quantities of cables. They were taken to Area A Command for interrogation and have been making useful statement to the police.

“Distress call was received from Ikeja control room that some armed robbers were operating at Savannah Bank, Broad Street The policemen stormed the area and these boys were arrested,” Vanguard quoted a police source as saying.
