The Imo State Police Command has warned the people of the state to stop calling Northerners in the state Boko Haram members.

The Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Andrew Enwerem in a statement issued yesterday in Owerri said the boko haram members are not identified by their mode of dressing or the language they speak.

He, however, urged the people of Imo state to maintain a peaceful relationship.

Meanwhile the Vice Chairman Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) Alhaji Muhamad Abubakar Tola, said it is unfair for people to tag every northerner, Boko Haram as he recalled an incident which recently happened of some Hausas who were sent away from watching the Woorld cup match at a viewing center.

The Sarikin Hausawa of Imo State, Alhaji Baba Saidu Suleman also condemned the development and appealed to Imo people to see northerners in the state as part of them, considering the number of years they have lived there.

This is coming after the Imo police averted an explosion in Winners Chapel, Port Harcourt which house over 2,000 people on Sunday morning, June 15.

The Police had arrived the scene after being alerted of the suspicious object only to discover the “Improvised Explosive Devices in forms of refrigerator compressor concealed in sack bags” and detonated them.

It was reported last month the Nigerian police had advised Nigerians not to link the bomb scare at Winners Chapel Church in Owerri, Imo state on Sunday June 15th to the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists as investigations are still on-going.

  1. The people of Imo state should be mindful of their statements. Moreso, the should be specific in their terms of reference because not all northerners are Hausas. There are Imos who have been in the north from time immemorial, and have authomatically become northerners. What then do you refered them to? BOKO HARAM? Just like the writer cited ” Boko Haram have no identity” even among the Imos there in the state, there could be one scrupulous being as their member. Such monsters are found all over the world right from time immemorial! Not only in the north. Only God ‘ll save us.

  2. Able Do’oh, God bless you. Its wrong 4 any one to generalize bcos it wil be wrong 4 anyone to also tag igbos generally as pple dat always hv a price(worship money nd can even kill for it).
