FC Porto have announced the signing of Algerian attacking midfielder Yacine Brahimi from Spanish club Granada for €6.5m (£5.1m).
The 24-year-old has penned a five-year deal with the Portuguese outfit.
Brahimi, a former France youth international having represented the country at all youth levels, was part of ‘La Fennec Foxes’ that reached a historic second round of the World Cup at this summer’s tournament in Brazil.
“FC Porto would like to announce that we have reached an agreement with Granada CF for the acquisition of the sporting rights and all of the economic rights of Yacine Brahimi for 6,500,000€ (Six million and five hundred euros),” read a statement on Porto’s official website.
He joined Rennes as a youth footballer in 2009 and made his senior debut in 2010 under manager Federic Antonetti, before moving to the La Liga last summer.
Brahimi made his debut with ‘La Fennec Foxes’ in March 2013 in the 3-1 win over Benin in a 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
He scored Algeria’s fourth goal in the 4-2 win over South Korea in the group stage of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Porto Alegre.
