Di Maria Agrees Deal To Join Manchester United

Angel Di Maria may join Manchester United before the end of the new week, for a deal in the region of £50 million, reports have suggested.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who has gone down the pecking order at Real Madrid had during the week asked to leave the club, leaving the door open for United, who suffers lack of creative depth in its midfield, to make the Argentinian a Red Devil.

However, the club seemed to be taking too much time to make a formal bid, getting fans over social networking sites yesterday, post threats and pleas to the Board at Old Trafford.

Although the club has refused to comment on the potential arrival of Di Maria at Old Trafford, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague posted on twitter that the midfielder’s agent Jorge Mendes was flying to Manchester to finalise the switch in a deal said to be worth £56 million.

Balague seemed sure about the move as he said the winger would wear No 7 at United.

UK’s Mirror also reported that Di Maria had told friends in Spain he has accepted a £180,000 per week offer from Manchester United and that he demanded for the No 7 shirt.

The deal if completed in the coming days, is expected to renew team confidence and help United refocus on the job at hand after opening day loss to Swansea at Old Trafford.

It is believed Louis van Gaal has also requested for Dutch midfielder Nigel De Jong to be brought before the transfer window closes. The midfielder is wanted as shield for United’s porous midfield.
