Ebola: 21 Quarantined In Enugu

Twenty-one persons suspected to have been infected with the Ebola virus have been quarantined in Enugu state.

Minister of Information Labaran Maku told State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting that one of the quarantined persons, a nurse, had primary contact with the late Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, who brought the disease to Nigeria.

Maku explained that the nurse traveled to Enugu from Lagos against instruction not to leave Lagos State, adding that 198 persons are currently under watch by the Ministry of Health to contain further spread of the disease, 177 out of which are in Lagos, while 21 are in Enugu.

“All those who had primary contact have been quarantined. Secondary contacts have also been traced. So far the number of people that have been traced is 198. Out of this number, 177 are in Lagos and are being traced. Some are in quarantine, some are being monitored by health specialists,” the minister said.

  1. U must tell us d nam of dat nurse so dat doz wo knew her will run cos she is mor dan a suicide bomber. Nigeria gvm must punish da nurse 4 disobeying d law. Doz quarantined needs serious security.

  2. Dat is 2 show d extent of unpatroitism nd wicked some pple can be,a nurse who is suppose 2be a professional n know d risk posed by exposing d virus 2 others. A good surveilance shld be placed arnd any ebola quarantine facility,if possible let there be armed police or army guardn d place n shld bE given right 2 shoot anybody dat wants 2 leave ther as d nurse did cos is a serious threat n enemy of d nation
