Nigeria international Brown Ideye will link up with West Bromwich Albion’s pre-season squad after confirming he has successfully being granted his work permit.
The 25-year-old signed a club record deal believed to worth £10m just over a fortnight ago at the Hawthorns, but has been held back in his home country while his visa issues were being cleared up.
The ex-Dynamo Kiev forward tweeted: “So happy to announce that my Visa has been issued. Will join the team ASAP”.
Ideye’s new ‘Baggies’ contract is expected to keep him at the West Midland club until 2017 with an option for a fourth season. He is expected to arrive at the club this week.
West Brom manager Alan Irvine has described Ideye as “a strong, quick, powerful player”
The striker, who has scored five goals in 24 Nigeria caps, will now have to integrate himself into the Premier League club’s squad.
He was omittedfrom coach Stephen Keshi’s squad for the 2014 World Cup.
West Brom start their 2014/15 league campaign at home to Sunderland on August 16.
