Jang Assures Corps Members Of Safety In Plateau

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to Plateau State have been advised to ensure their safety by adhering strictly to the instructions given to them in camp.

Governor Jonah Jang advised the 2014 Batch ‘B’ corps members numbering over 3,000 yesterday, during the swearing-in ceremony at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Jakatai, Mangu Local Government Area to be disciplined as that would create a conducive environment for safety.

Jang who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths Development, Mrs. Dorcas Din, charged the corps members to conduct themselves with single-minded dedication to make the service year a success.

“I congratulate you for successfully concluding your various courses of study. I implore you to be guided by a sense of duty and commitment. Your personal and skills development programmes have been instituted during the orientation course. Use the opportunity to work towards self-development and self-reliance.

“As the NYSC scheme has been a vehicle for national integration, we will provide conducive atmosphere for it to succeed.”

He therefore pledged his administration’s commitment to providing support for the growth of the scheme, stressing that the corps members should be committed in rendering quality services to the state and the nation at large.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Lois Meller had earlier called on parents of the corps members not to panic as every stakeholder was committed to the corps members’ safety and comfort during the service year.
