The Niger State Commissioner for Information, Mohammed Danladi Ndayebo, has denied the allegation of intimidation levelled against the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) led government in the state by the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The state chapter of APC had accused the Babangida Aliyu-led administration of intimidating and harbouring plans to arrest its members ahead of this weekend’s Niger-East Senatorial by-election.
According to the commissioner, “There is no truth in the alarm raised by the opposition that prominent members of the APC have been marked for arrest ahead of next week’s election. I therefore, urge supporters of PDP in the state to ignore the blackmail by the APC and work hard to defeat the opposition”.
Mr. Ndayebo added: “It is a mark of idleness for the spokesman of the APC to engage in raising false alarms instead of advising his party to put its house in order and strategise on how to win the forthcoming election. The PDP in Niger State is warning APC to desist from blackmailing the state government because no amount of shenanigans or blackmail will stop the party from defeating the opposition in the senatorial by-election scheduled for August 30, 2014”.
