A notorious armed robber, Jerry Peter aka PATA, who specializes in car theft and house-breaking, has been arrested by the Taraba State Police Command.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, who disclosed this in a chat with journalists yesterday in Jalingo, the state capital, said the suspect was one of the five robbery gangs that have been making life unbearable for law abiding citizens of the state.
He added that the suspect, Jerry Peter, alias PATA, has been in the habit of stealing since 2011.
According to the police image maker, the suspect who is a jail-bird, told the police during interrogation that he has in his possession mysterious criminal charms that always help him to detect danger ahead and also help him to evade arrests. He also claimed that the charms serve as bulletproof and protection in case of a gun-duel.
Kwaji, who is an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, fingered PATA as among the notorious group of five armed robbers who snatched a Lexus SUV with reg no. EG 897 ABJ belonging to one Alhaji Adamu Isah of Donga Road, opposite Deeper Life Church, Jalingo on August 8, 2014.
He said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
