There’re No Two Governments In Taraba, Says SSG

Suntai-Garba-UmarSecretary to the Taraba State Government, Gavey Yawe, has denied the existence of a double government in the state.

Yawe’s comment is coming amid the delicate political situation in the state occasioned by the air accident that involved Governor Danbaba Suntai in late 2012, which incapacitated him, with some stakeholders in the state arguing that there are parallel governments.

But speaking to journalists in Kaduna, the SSG said the acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, has continued to re-emphasize that he is standing in for his boss and that there is only one government and that is the one formed by the recuperating Danbaba Santai.

“It is not true that the acting governor has abandoned his boss. All these are political elements trying to use the governor to give them the ticket, and now that they can see the governor is not recovering in time, they feel the whole thing is belated and they want to shift the blame on the acting governor.

“There are no two governments in Taraba State. The only thing is that Danbaba is not yet in a situation where he will come, so how can they say he (Umar) abandoned him since he had that accident?” he said.
