U.S Ambassador Pays Courtesy Visit On Acting IGP, Donates High-Tech Bomb Disposal Robots, Equipment

The war against terrorism in the country received a significant boost Wednesday as the Nigeria Police received high-tech bomb disposal robots and equipment from the United States Embassy in Abuja.

The U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, James F. Entwistle made the donation during a courtesy call on the acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Ambassador Entwistle congratulated Mr. Suleiman on his new appointment as the Police Boss and thanked the Nigeria Police Force for its high level of co-operation and huge partnership with the US Embassy in Nigeria.

A statement by the police spokesman, ACP Frank Mba, said the Ambassador thereafter presented the robots and equipment to the acting IGP even as he assured that his country will continue to render relevant supports to the Nigeria Police in the areas of training and security cooperation.

In his response, Mr. Suleiman appreciated the Ambassador’s courtesy visit and thanked the US government for assisting the Nigeria Police Force in areas of investigation, management of scene of crime as well as position of equipment.

Describing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) executed by the Nigeria Police Force and the US government recently as a huge partnership that will improve and modernize Police training in Nigeria, the acting IGP restated his commitment to continue to drive reforms and transformation of the Force in order to reposition the Force for better service delivery and promised that the newly donated equipment would be put to judicious use.
