2015: No Automatic Ticket For Gov. Ahmed, Saraki, Others – Kwara APC

Abdulfatah Ahmed-Bukola SarakiThe All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State on Thursday declared that there would be no automatic ticket for any of its members aspiring for public offices in the 2015 general election.

It urged aspirants seeking to contest elective positions to declare their ambitions at the right time.

This declaration has put APC chieftains from Kwara South in disarray as they have been in the fore-front of making a case for the re-election of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.

A group known as APC Youth Coalition has also called on the party’s leadership to zone the governorship ticket to Kwara Central.

But the APC resolved at an expanded State Executive Council (SEC) meeting presided over by its chairman, Alhaji Ishola Balogun Fulani at the party’s secretariat in Ilorin, that there would be no automatic ticket for any member.

A statement by its publicity secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari said, “The APC reached the resolution that there is no automatic ticket for aspirants at all levels, without exception, in the 2015 general elections at the State Executives Council (SEC) meeting held on Wednesday at the Party Secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State.

“We urge all aspirants seeking to contest elective positions in the 2015 general election to declare their political ambitions as the APC will soon kick off the process of direct primary elections for all aspirants in Kwara State”.

The party, however, assured members of a level playing field, saying all aspirants would be subjected to transparent, fair and credible primaries.
