Bayern Beat CSKA to Maintain Perfect Start in Europe

Bayern Munich made it two wins from two after a narrow win at Russian Champions CSKA Moscow in the European Champions League on Tuesday.

Thomas Muller’s 21st-minute spot-kick separated both side at an empty Arena Khimki, following a Uefa sanction for crowd disturbance during the group game with Viktoria Plzen last season.

The win takes the German Bundesliga champions’ points tally to six after two rounds of matches. They could be joined at the top by AS Roma, who play at Premier League champions Manchester City later on Tuesday. CSKA are yet to record a point.

Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa threatened to pull back the arrears for ‘Red-Blues’ but goalkeeper Manuel Neuer dived low to block his shot on 36 minutes.

Musa later provided a pass for Zoran Tosic, but the Serbian excessively let fly his effort.

Russian-born Finland international Roman Eremenko’s well-taken shot also went over the bar. The 27-year-old then fired a shot from the edge of the area which clipped the stanchion with Neuer beaten few minutes to the break.
