Nigerian striker Ikechukwu Uche came off the bench to earn a solitary point for Villarreal at German club Borussia Monchengladbach in a Europa League Group A clash on Thursday.
The goal turned out the super-sub’s only contribution following a clash with goalkeeper Yann Sommer immediately after he poked home the equaliser.
Villarreal trailed Monchengladbach by Patrick Herrmann’s first half opener, prompting Uche’s introduction just after the hour mark.
The 30-year-old, who came on for Luciano Vietto, needed just 20 seconds to convert Manu Trigueros’ through ball with his first touch, but got injured in the process and was unable to continue.
Villarreal hosts FC Apollon on October 2. The Greek side sealed a 3-2 home win over FC Zurich in the other Group A fixture.
