Former Nigeria women’s national team coach Ntiero Effiom has passed on after a brief illness.
Effiom died in hospital in his hometown of Akpabuyo (near Calabar) on Tuesday after suffering a stroke, according to his wife.
Effiom coached Cross River State-based club Pelican Stars to multiple Nigeian women’s league and Cup titles before taking over the reins of Nigeria U-19 women’s side at the World Championship in Canada in 2002.
He led the Super falcons to the 2007 Fifa Women’s World Cup in China, three years after earning promotion.
May his gentle soul rest in peace
May the lord forgive you for sin and make your soul rest in perfect peace
