House Committee Declare August 26 NFF Congress Illegal

The House Committee on Sport chaired by Godfrey Gaiya have declared the elective congress into the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on August 26 as illegal.

This followed a series of public hearing involving all stakeholders, such as the minister for sport Tammy Danagogo.

“The agenda for Tuesday, August 26, was a non-elective congress and the said elections did not follow NFF statutes,” noted Gaiya.

Gaiya as well called on concerned parties to come to terms with a Fifa letter, dated September 3, so as to avoid a long-standing suspension threat and as such conduct a new poll along with the NFF statutes.

“We urge all parties to adhere to the directives of a Fifa letter dated September 3, which advised for a congress to design a roadmap for elections before an elective congress,” he said.

“Those occupying the NFF office should therefore vacate before the Fifa deadline.

“And all eligible Nigerians should be allowed to participate freely and fairly in fresh elections as announced by the congress.”
