IGI Vice Executive Chairman, Remi Olowude, Dies At 63

Remi OlowudeThe Nigerian insurance industry yesterday lost an icon when the Executive Vice Chairman, Industrial and General Insurance Plc, Mr. Remi Olowude, passed on in a hospital in the United State of America after a prolonged illness.

He was aged of 63.

Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, IGI, Mr. Steve Ilo, who confirmed his death, said an official statement would be released Monday by the late Insurance guru’s family and management of IGI Group.

A graduate of Economics from the University of Lagos, Olowude deployed his multi-disciplinary background, professionalism and vision to build a conglomerate with interests in various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

One of them is IGI, which was incorporated as a limited liability company in October, 31, 1991 and commenced operation in January 1992.

He was also the chairman of Nigerian Insurers Association from June 2012 to June 2014.
