The Lagos State Government has expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for its decision to take over the reconstruction of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Director of Press, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Biola Fagunwa made this known in a statement on Friday.
He expressed the State’s hope that the interest shown by the FG will mark a new beginning where the central government shows interest “in its various responsibilities towards the people of the state.”
Minister of Works, Mike Onolemenem had during a recent visit to Lagos announced that the FG was going to take over the reconstruction of the 10-lane road following challenges being faced by the state government in the area of funding and engineering, due to the magnitude of the project.
The state government noted that there are several projects across the country that calls for similar attention from the federal government. It therefore urged the FG to continue taking over such projects nationwide for the sake of development.
It said the type of partnership the state was entering with the FG was the kind expected, as it would drive development of the state.
