The policemen also tried to gain entrance into NSCDC building but they were prevented by the corps’ officials  who barricaded the main gate.

The Assistant spokesman of the corps, Shola Odumosun, disclosed that the incident occurred at about 11am, The Nation reports.

The police officers were said to be shooting sporadically causing panic in the area.

There was pandemonium around the areas leading to the NSCDC headquaters as people fled in all directions to avoid being hit by stray bullet.

This is the latest in a history of clashes between Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

Recently a video surfaced online, showing members of the NSCDC) and Nigeria Police Force (NPF) engaged in an apparent power struggle with members of both parties drawing out their guns, adding to the series of clashes between bot parties.

Last month, the Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ade Abolurin was reportedly almost killed by a police inspector who attempted to open fire on him at Ikorodu in Lagos State.

Meanwhile, in 2013, the NSCDC had accused the police of killing two of its men from the anti-vandal squad of the Lagos State command.
