Latest reports indicate that fire has razed at least 40 apartments at Ijeh Police Barracks in Obalende, Lagos state.
According to a report published by P.M NEWS, the cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown.
The Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaq Fadipe, while speaking with newsmen, confirmed the fire incident.
He said: “An outbreak of fire is on now at Ijeh Police Barracks, Obalende. 24 rooms were consumed by fire.”
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that on 29 August, 2014, a police inspector and his wife fell from the balcony of their apartment during a fight at the same barracks.
The officer was later reported to have died at the police hospital in Ikoyi following serious head injuries he sustained.
The widow of the late police officer was reported to be in intensive care unit as doctors battled to save her life.
The identity of the Inspector was not revealed but he was said to come from Nasarawa State, while his wife is from the eastern part of the country.
