Real Madrid Sign Chicharito on a Season-Long Loan

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has joined Spanish club Real Madrid on a season-long loan.

The European champions have a first option to buy the Mexico international at the end of the season.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has been on the lookout for a striker following the departure of Alvaro Morata to Juventus for £15.8m.

He will provide back-up at the Santiago Bernebeu for first-choice striker Karim Benzema.

Hernandez is surplus to requirement at Old Trafford, with Colombian hitman, Radamel Falcao, set to complete his medical at the ground after a reported £6m loan deal was agreed with Moncao on transfer deadline day.

The 26-year-old joined United from Mexican club Guadalajara in 2010 and scored 20 goals in his debut season. He scored 37 goals – mostly as a substitute- in 102 league appearances.

He was named in coach Oscar Tabarez’s World Cup squad, and helped Mexico reach the quarter-finals, scoring in the 3-1 group stage win over Croatia. Hernandez has scored a total of 33 goals in 66 international matches.
