Roma defender David Astori is expected to miss the side’s Uefa Champions League Group E clash at Manchester City, after the Italian Serie A side announced he has been diagnosed with knee ligament damage.
The centre-back is set for several weeks on the sidelines after picking up the injury late in Roma’s 5-1 win over CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.
“Astori was sent for tests which revealed a right knee sprain with damage to the collateral medial ligament,” a statement on his club’s official website read. “The player has already started physiotherapy.”
Roma, who are back in Europe’s elite competition for the first time since the 2010/11 season, top Group E after Wednesday’s emphatic win at the Olympic Stadium.
