The Taraba State Executive Council yesterday advised the state House of Assembly to set up a seven man medical team to probe the health status of recuperating Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai.

Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Musa Tende, disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Jalingo.

According to Tende, the Acting Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, said he was ready to hand over the reins of leadership to Governor Suntai if the medical team finds him fit to resume official duties.

The commissioner also debunked speculations that the executive council had declared Suntai incapacitated, adding that it had no power to do so.

Tende said Suntai had been away from the state for a long time on account of his ill health and there was every need to employ the services of medical experts to offer expert advice on his health status.

Governor Suntai is currently away in the United Kingdom where he went for a scheduled medical check-up.
