Twenty-eight members of both the National Assembly and the Borno State House of Assembly on Thursday picked an Expression of Interest and Nomination Form which they intend to donate to the state governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, their choice candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), to enable him seek a second term in office.
The lawmakers comprise of one out of the two APC senators, five out of the eight members of the House of Representatives under the APC and 22 out of the 27 members of the Borno State House of Assembly, who did not join the former governor of the state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff to defect to the PDP.
Speaking on their decision to obtain the forms for the governor, Hon. Tahiru Monguno said that as representatives of Borno people, they were at the party secretariat to express the confidence that Borno people and other residents have in Governor Shettima.
The lawmaker said Borno people are very impressed with what he described as “the excellent performance of the governor in the last three and a half years, especially the manner in which he manages the security challenges in the state, his genuine efforts towards reclaiming peace, his reconstruction efforts and his courage in carrying out numerous projects despite the challenges”.
