2015 Presidency: Okorocha Perturbed By Lack Of Interest By Igbos Politicians

Rochas OkorochaGov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Wednesday, expressed concern over the lack of interest among Igbo politicians in aspiring for the position of President of Nigeria come 2015.

Okorocha said this when he received the Enugu Zonal Director and Management team of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Enugu zone at the Government House, Owerri.

He said that Nigeria as a nation belonged to all and wondered why Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo should discourage any Igbo man from aspiring to the highest position in the country.

He called on the Igbo people to brace up and support any of their own aspiring for the presidency of the nation.

The governor assured the Enugu Zonal Director of FRCN of the support of his government.

He challenged FRCN stations to pursue the goal of the corporation which centres on “uplifting the people and uniting the nation” by being objective in their reportage.

The governor expressed concern that the corporation had not given elaborate report on the abandoned Imo axis of the Port-Harcourt-Owerri Road which he said posed great danger to motorists plying the road.

Earlier, the Enugu Zonal Director, FRCN, Mr Chigozie Obialor, said the team was in Owerri to hold its 3rd and 4th Annual Conference.

He said that the conference with the theme: “Overcoming the Challenges of Election Year through Radio Programmes”, would provide radio stations within the zone with new ideas to serve the public better.

He thanked the governor for providing the radio station with an atmosphere conducive for it to operate.

Obialor, who requested for an operation vehicle for the station, assured the state government of the collaboration of the station to better the lot of the people. (NAN)
