Bank Manager Arrested For Running An Armed Robbery Gang

The insider game in bank robbery again played out during the week when a senior bank manager, who allegedly runs an armed robbery gang, was arrested along with two members of his gang for attempting to rob a bank in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The arrest of the bank manager followed the confession made by two of the suspected gang members that a staffer of the bank, who happened to be one of the managers and one of their brothers, contacted them to rob the bank as a huge amount of money was slated for transfer on that day.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspects were sighted when they were loitering around the bank premises with a bag containing their weapons.

Suspicious of their activities, the bank’s private security and policemen on duty arrested them and, after searching their bag, one battle axe and other items were recovered.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu confirmed the arrest of the suspects, saying that following their arrest and interrogation, the two suspects confessed that their brother who is a staff of the bank, hired them to rob the bank as he told them that a huge amount of money would be transferred from the bank to Ellu village.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects further confessed that the bank worker advised them to ambush the clerk on the road and rob him of the money that would be on transit.

While saying that the suspects have been charged to court for conspiracy and attempted armed robbery, she disclosed that a battle axe and other items were recovered from the suspects.
