48 Laws of Power, ‘must read’ book for all suggests somewhere in its pages of wisdom, that every threat should be taken seriously, no matter how small it seems. It takes one level of smartness to get to the top, but a higher level to stay there. Life is in phases dear and I’m sure you know that. Your haters probably had a filled night of laughter yesterday but who laughs last laughs best; you decide that.
I want to assume you’re an optimist so that leaves you with two options in life; you either win or learn (not lose). So brace up for some real talk.
First, I think you should have known or done better against your relentless foes instead of just bragging. ‘Almost’ every news site in Nigeria lifts content from other sites. As long as you quote your sources (which i think you do), so you can’t be labelled a black sheep of plagiarism devoid of any originality. So where did you go wrong? In my view, there are two things worthy of note:
1) Expansion: Hiring writers to help you re-write or modify stories would have saved you this stress. You can even hire a few journalists who’ll help you cover big events. One or two of your ad banners would probably take care of their wages. This would have given you more time for your personal life and solidified the originality of your blog content.
2) Equally Strong Back-up Plan: Let’s assume you don’t like the first idea. By back-up I’m not referring to creating a new site or buying domains alone. I’m talking of the ultimate factor which is TRAFFIC (mother of all bloggers) because without it you’re going no where.
Sometime in 2012, I sent you a mail about creating a Facebook page which if well promoted would be another great source of traffic. Imagine you had a Facebook page of about 1 million likes Linda! You’d easily redirect that traffic to your new site, but still, the thought of having someone else manage it for you (which takes us back to 1) probably scared you away, maybe.
Well here we are…all that stuff never happened and haters will keep hating so you have to come back better than ever to trample your relentless foes.
I may not know so much about blogging or the internet space but I do know that success is a journey not a destination. You’ve only encountered a bump so pick up yourself, and run with more ‘caution’. If the big I.T companies can be dealt with, then you’re not beyond the claws of envy. Remember the word CAUTION even as you kick off again because there are tireless fingers and sleepless eyes still working. I honestly wish you could still get back on the blogger platform because of its security, as Google though has some strict policies and a horrible feedback system (once lost my money to them while trying to get a different domain name through them and getting their help was a herculean task) is nevertheless the most reliable hosting platform i guess. Others can get hacked like knife through butter, when faced with determined internet gurus.
Anyway, I hope you get to read this. My last words for you: Just move and don’t let any HATE put you down. Learn from your mistakes and bounce back better……on Alexa. Perhaps you’ll be getting married soon too.
