I must admit that I was as stunned as you currently are right now when I first came across this report.

If you were a ardent follower of the yearly ‘Maltina Dance All’ TVshow, then you would have witnessed the grand finale, the culmination of weeks of suspense, drama and excitement saw the Utere family from Port-Harcourt, Rivers State crowned winners of the show’s 2014 edition.

The Uteres went home with N10 million after securing the largest number of votes in the keenly-contested competition.

Apart from the grand prize of N10 million, the Utere family also earned the title of Nigeria’s number one dance family, while the Uzodinma family, which came 2nd, went home with N3m and the Odigie family was rewarded with N1m for 3rd.

10 families were initially admitted into the famed Maltina Dance academy, after which they were subsequently reduced to four families – Utere, Uzodinma, Odigie and Unanka – who took part in the grand finale.

It’s also interesting to note that an Utere family member, Eric Isaac Utere, aka Leriq, is doing very well in the entertainment industry.

The 26 year-old is a producer cum musician currently signed on to Aristocrat Records.

He is solely responsible for producing Burna Boy’s debut album L.I.F.E which spawned hits like ‘Like to party’, ‘Tonight’ and others, and was ranked 10th on Nigeria Entertainment Today’s 12 best albums of 2013.

Leriq has gone ahead to release songs of his own which include ‘Turn up’ and ‘Comment tu ta’pelle’.
