On loan Stoke City winger Victor Moses has been ruled out of Nigeria’s forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier with a thigh injury.
The 23-year-old suffered a recurrence of a thigh injury as the ‘Potters’ lost their unbeaten away game record at Sunderland on Saturday. He is expected to undergo further scans this week.
Moses only earned his recall to the Super Eagles squad for the double header against Sudan last month after missing out on previous matches against Congo and South Africa.
The Eagles training camp for Saturday’s Afcon qualifier in Sudan opens on Monday in Abuja.
Nigeria have managed just a point after two round of matches and trail group leaders Congo (6 points) and South Africa (4 points). Sudan have lost two out of two qualifying matches.
Nigeria will host Sudan in the return leg at the Abuja National Stadium on October 15.
Keshi on Moses: “I tried to reach him on phone, but he did not pick up. The team secretary reached him and he may be out for three weeks or so.”
